Where your coaching goes, and where it does not
Starbuck & Associates Limited is the data controller for this service. This section is our privacy notice for Starbuck Coach. It tells you what we do with your information and what you can do about it.
The short version
We keep nothing from your conversation. There is no database behind this service and no account. Your session lives in your browser tab and, if you choose, in your own browser's storage on your own device. Nobody at Starbuck & Associates can read your sessions, because we keep no copy. We do not ask for your name or your email address, and there is nothing for you to sign up to.
One thing we want to be precise about, because a promise of total privacy would be easy to make and would not be quite true. To answer you at all, what you type has to reach the company that provides the AI model. It is held there briefly and then deleted. The detail is below under “Your conversation”.
Closing the tab ends the session and removes the conversation from the page. Any notes or optional history stored in your browser remain until you use “Forget everything” or clear your browser data. Anthropic may retain the conversation for up to 30 days, as explained in “Your data”.
Your coach cannot see it. Your employer cannot see it.
Even if your organisation paid for your coaching, they receive no individual content, no transcripts and no summaries. If any reporting is ever provided to a sponsoring organisation it will be at the level of a group, never a person, and we will say so before you start.
What we do with each thing
Your conversation. To answer you, what you type is sent over an encrypted connection to our own service, which passes it to Anthropic, the company that provides the AI model. Anthropic acts as our processor under a written contract. Neither we nor Anthropic use your conversation to train AI models. We write no part of it to any store or log of ours. Anthropic holds it on its own systems, in the United States, and deletes it within 30 days, other than where it has to keep something longer to investigate misuse of the service. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in providing a coaching development tool you have chosen to use. For anything sensitive you write, our condition is the explicit consent you give before the session starts.
Your notes. The two note boxes and, if you turn it on, your session history stay in your own browser using its local storage. They are on your device, not ours. Clearing your browser data removes them. So does the button marked Forget everything.
Your summary. The PDF is put together by this page inside your browser and saved to your device by your browser. It is not sent to us, it does not pass through our service and we hold no copy, which also means we cannot recover it for you if you lose it. We do not collect your email address, because there is nothing to send.
Technical logs. Our service records technical errors only: response codes, sizes and counts. No part of any conversation is written to a log. There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third party script on this site.
Storage on your device
We set no cookies. We use your browser's local storage for two things only: the notes you write in the side panel, and your session history if you switch it on. Both stay on your device and neither is sent to us.
The rules on storing anything on your device changed in February 2026. Storage that is essential to providing the service you asked for does not need a consent banner, and keeping your own notes where you can see them is the service. That is why you are not asked to accept anything. You can clear it all at any time with the Forget everything button, or by clearing your browser data.
Sensitive information
People bring real things to coaching. What you write may include information about your health, your beliefs, your relationships or your personal life. The law calls that special category data and holds it to a higher standard. Two things follow.
First, we ask for your explicit agreement at the start of a session, separately from our terms, and we name what we are asking about rather than hiding it behind the words “personal data”.
Second, we have built the service so that we never write this information down: we do not store it and we do not log it. It reaches the AI model in order to be answered, and is deleted there within 30 days.
Who else is involved
- Anthropic, who provide the AI model that generates the coach's replies. Your conversation reaches them and is deleted within 30 days.
- Netlify, who host this site and run the small pieces of code behind it.
- Netlify’s AI Gateway, which sits between our service and Anthropic. When your conversation is sent to be answered it travels through this gateway, which passes the call on and meters it. We store nothing there, and nothing is written to any store of ours. What the gateway itself records, and for how long, we have not yet established. We would rather tell you that than describe a shorter journey than your words actually take. We have asked Netlify to confirm it and will update this notice when they do.
Each is bound by a written contract that limits them to acting on our instructions. Anthropic stores data in the United States, and that transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses together with the UK Addendum. Netlify is a United States company, and that transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses together with the UK Addendum. We do not sell your information to anybody, ever, and we never will.
How long we keep things
- Conversation content: not kept by us at all. Held by Anthropic and deleted within 30 days.
- The AI Gateway hop: not kept by us at all. What the gateway retains is not yet established, and is being confirmed with Netlify.
- Summary content: never reaches us, so there is nothing for us to keep. The PDF you download stays on your device until you delete it.
- Contact details: we do not collect any.
- Technical error logs: 30 days.
- Your notes and history: on your device, until you clear them.
Your rights
You have the right to be told what we do with your information, to ask for a copy of it, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to have it moved to another provider, and to withdraw consent at any time.
You can exercise these rights through our contact form. Starbuck Coach does not keep a conversation database, but Anthropic may retain conversation content on our behalf for up to 30 days, subject to the exceptions described above. Whether we can locate, provide or delete a particular conversation will depend on whether it can be identified in the provider’s systems without collecting unnecessary additional information from you. We will respond honestly, explain what we and our processors hold, and pass a valid request to the relevant processor where we are able and required to do so.
To exercise your data-protection rights, withdraw consent, ask us about your information or raise a privacy concern, use our contact form at starbuckassociates.com/contact. It reaches a person. Please state that your enquiry concerns Starbuck Coach and privacy. We will respond within one month, and normally sooner.
Withdrawing your consent
You can withdraw your consent at any time by ending the session and not sending further messages. This stops further conversation processing. It does not automatically erase information already processed or retained temporarily by Anthropic. To ask about information already processed or temporarily retained by a provider, use our contact form and state that your enquiry concerns Starbuck Coach and withdrawal of consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Their helpline is 0303 123 1113, their website is ico.org.uk, and their address is Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right, but you do not have to.
Security
Everything moves over an encrypted connection. We hold no conversation content at all. Email is the weakest link in any system of this kind, and a summary sent to a mistyped address is the most likely way a service like this goes wrong, so there is no email in this service at all. Your summary is built on your device and never travels.
Be aware of shared devices
Because your notes and history live in your browser, anybody else using the same browser profile on the same device could open them. They are not encrypted on your device. The same is true of a summary you download: it is an ordinary PDF in your Downloads folder until you move or delete it. If you are on a shared or work computer, use the Forget everything button when you finish, move or delete any file you downloaded, or use a private browsing window.
Adults only
This service is for adults. It is not designed or intended for anybody under 18, and we ask you to confirm you are 18 or over before a session starts.
Automated decisions
The coach's replies are generated automatically, which is the whole point of it. Nothing it produces is a decision that has a legal effect on you or anything similarly significant. It does not score you, profile you, assess your performance or share any judgement about you with anybody.
Changes
We may update this notice. The version and date at the foot of this panel tell you which one you are reading. Where a change materially affects you we will show a notice on this site for at least 30 days.
Version 1.2, last updated 27 August 2026. We review this notice whenever the service or the way information is processed changes. If a change materially affects you, we will update this version number and date.
